Are you interested in the fire service, but don't know how you can get involved? PFRA is the perfect organization for you. We are NOT a Volunteer Fire Department. The Plano Fire Department is a career department and does not utilize volunteer firefighters. Instead PFRA provides volunteers to support the organization in many other ways besides fire suppression. See the Projects section for an understanding of what PFRA members do.

Membership Requirements

Requirements for membership in PFRA include:

Given the nature of PFRA's activities, a background check will be performed on all potential members.

PFRA also makes exceptions for people not wanting to complete the Citizens Fire Academy. These people are voted upon by the membership after a background check has been performed.

Meetings

PFRA meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Plano Fire Department Administration building located at 1901 Avenue K in Plano Texas.

In addition to discussing the business of the organization, we often have a program to help us gain a better understanding of the operations of the Plano Fire Department.

Meetings are open to all members and prospective members. If you wish to attend a meeting, contact any of the Board Officers listed on the home page for more information.
